• Trainees debating application of RECP for water management in hotels. Tangerang, 6-7 September 2016.

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) with the Centre for Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Indonesia (CRECPI) delivered introductory training course on RECP on 6-7 September 2016 in Tangerang as contribution to sustainable tourism destination development in Indonesia. Trainees included government planners and business representatives from 20 regencies and cities around Indonesia that have committed to pilot sustainable tourism destination management.

RECP has proven to be a practical means for improving competitiveness, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing both employee satisfaction and guest experiences in hotels and other tourism enterprises. The Government of Indonesia, through the Ministry of Tourism, aims to consolidate, expand and diversify tourism in Indonesia, in a sustainable manner contributing more evenly to both regional development as well as national economy. The training was scheduled to coincide with Travelmart 2016, the premier tourism industry fair of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), hosted on 7-9 September 2016 by the Government of Indonesia. The training was organized within the framework of the national RECP Programme of UNIDO, proudly funded by the Government of Switzerland (SECO).
