UNIDO together with six other organizations in the programme (FAO, ILO, UNEP, UNITAR, WHO and OECD), is currently in the third phase of technical work to promote and deliver training on the use of the toolbox and its chemical management schemes in developing countries and economies in transition, as per the project “IOMC Toolbox for Decision Making in Chemicals Management-Phase III: From design to action”. The IOMC (Inter-Organization Programme for the Sound Management of Chemicals) Toolbox, created under the framework of the programme, is an Internet-based toolbox for decision-making in the management of chemical products containing various tools developed by the aforementioned organizations. The Toolbox supports the implementation of the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) and enhances the identification and implementation of guidance materials for chemicals management, in particular by developing countries, which are the main goals of the project.
The objective of the Project “From design to action” is to continue improving the functionalities and broadening the scope and application of the IOMC Toolbox. A strong capacity building component is included to enable countries to implement the tools available in the Toolbox and thereby strengthening the sound management of chemicals in countries. With the objective of the training was to train the trainers on its use and its tools, especially on the UNIDO Chemical Leasing and Green Chemistry Toolkits. The trainings were held online from August 30 till Oct 5, 2021, with the participants from Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. This training was organized by National Production Centre – Serbia.
